Waldorf, Md. shows support for Brocton

September 18, 2013
The OBSERVER

Dunkirk graduate and former area assistant football coach Zach Ortolano currently lives in Waldorf, Md. where he coaches North Point High School football. After hearing about the tragic death of Brocton junior Damon Janes, Ortolano asked his football players to wear green for Tuesday's practice. Ortolano anticipated a handful of players to actually wear green, considering it was picture day. However, when Ortolano showed up to practice, a majority of the players wore something green to honor the Brocton athlete. During the school day, the players wore green ribbons to show support for Janes. "The Brocton community and the Janes family do not just have local support, but support from other parts of the country," Ortolano said. "Our hearts are broken here at North Point for the Janes family, and hope that a show of support offers the slightest bit of help in relieving some of the heartache."
