Award winning author C. Alexander London, best known for his works the Accidental Adventures and the Dog Tag Series, will be the keynote speaker at a kickoff event for the Young Writers' Symposium to be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 9:30 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County. A series of workshops will follow throughout October which focus on creative writing and drawing and are led by Chautauqua Striders and the Dunkirk Free Library. Dunkirk youth between the ages of 11 to 13 are encouraged to enroll by contacting the Boys & Girls Club at 366-1061. Class size is limited to 20 individuals.
During the Saturday event and the October workshops students will have the opportunity to meet and learn from successful professionals in the fields of videography, art, writing and publishing. Each student will write and publish a book.
