Leo A. Pacos Sr. of Fredonia, NY, went to be with Our Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013. He was born in Fredonia, NY, on Jan. 11, 1924 to Peter and Mary (Burlett) Pacos. He was 89 years old.
He attended the Pomfret School on Bull Road and graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1942. Following the death of his father in 1943, he ran the family farm while his two brothers were serving in the military during World War II. He then went to work at the American Locomotive Company as an Inspector.
In 1954, he and Anthony Leone purchased the Lesandro Restaurant and renamed it the Fountain Grill. After 20 years, Leo and his wife, Eleanore, purchased the entire business and operated it as a family, until it was sold in 1994.

He married the former Eleanore I. Kuczenski on Aug. 6, 1955 in St. Joseph's Church in Fredonia, NY with the Rev. Msgr. Edward J. Walker officiating.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children: Mary Benner, Leo A. Pacos Jr., Susan (Thomas) Zanghi, Nancie (Gary) Hermann, Daniel (Kimberly) Pacos, Roger Pacos and Gary (Laura) Pacos. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adam (Robynn) Benner, Jason (Elisha Kulpa) Benner, Robert and Jennifer Zanghi, Mackenzie and Collin Schanzlin, Kevin, Marc and Aaron Pacos, Bryson Pacos, and Brian and Maria Pacos; and one great grandchild, Rihanna Benner. He is also survived by his brother, Paul (Doris) Pacos; and his sister, Audrey (Anthony) Catalano; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Brian J. Pacos; brothers Peter and Edward Pacos; and sisters Esther Pacos, Frances Grace, Agnes Pacos, Dorothy Abeel and Cecelia Perry.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. of Holy Trinity Church were a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass and may call at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main St., Fredonia, NY Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9. Interment Webster Cemetery, Fredonia, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leo's memory can be made to the Brian J. Pacos Memorial Scholarship, Fre-donia Fire Department, or the National MS Society.
