MAYVILLE - The upset of the girls volleyball season took place in Mayville.
Ninth-seeded Forestville (14-6) upset No. 1 - and previously-undefeated Chautauqua Lake (16-1) - in five games in the Section 6 Class D quarterfinals on Tuesday night, 17-25, 25-23, 25-23, 16-25, 25-19.
Forestville now goes to No. 4 Portville, which beat Silver Creek, 3-1, Friday at 6 p.m. in the semifinal round.

This was the third meeting between Forestville and Chautauqua Lake this season with the latter winning the first two. But the saying rang true that it's hard to beat a team for a third time as the Lady Thunderbirds found out.
Sierra Tweedie had 16 kills, 17 digs and seven aces for the winners while Alisha Szumigala had seven kills, 12 digs, three aces; Lizzy Gilman recorded seven kills, five digs and Ashley had VanBuskirk 49 assists and three aces.
In defeat, Jenna Einink had 35 kills, three aces, 16 digs and two blocks; Ashton Albanesius had 19 kills, an ace, 12 digs; Tara Hunt had four kills, an ace, three digs and 27 assists; Katie Meadows had four aces, seven digs and 32 assists; and Ryleigh Hawkins had five kills.
