A two-car accident on Vineyard Drive resulted in a Dunkirk woman being flown to a Buffalo hospital Tuesday afternoon.
According to New York State Police at Fredonia, the accident occurred just after 12 p.m. when a vehicle driven by Patricia Halas, 68, was traveling east when she veered into the turning lane and rear-ended a vehicle slowing in the turning lane to make a left turn into an area business. The collision caused Halas' vehicle to roll over and slide on its roof.
Halas was ejected from the vehicle and suffered head injuries. She was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital before being flown to Erie County Medical Center for serious injuries. No other injuries were sustained in the other vehicle. In addition to police, East Dunkirk Fire Department and Alstar Ambulance responded to the scene.
