The Chaut-auqua County Independence Party announced the endorsement of Terry Niebel as its candidate for county legislator in District 5.
Chairman Thom Shagla stated Niebel has "by far, the most experience in Chautauqua County government and should prove to be not only an asset for his district, but the entire County."
"This election is about the future of our county. We have downsized the legislature from 25 to 19 resulting in a significant savings to the county. Districts have been combined and the new legislators will need to be qualified and knowledgeable of the many issues facing this county. Terry's experience with the county and now as a small business owner gives him a unique advantage. He is well-versed in the operation of county government, and now has six years in the private sector and understands the struggle small business owners face. Additionally, Terry runs a small grape farm which gives him good insight into the agricultural community," Shagla said.
Niebel is a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County. He attended SUNY Fredonia, graduating with a major in economics and business. He continued his education at St. Bonaventure where he received a master's in business administration.
"Terry's educational background will be extremely important in his role as legislator," Shagla emphasized. "The ability to understand the financial process as well as having the tools to make recommendations for change gives him a strong advantage. We need to elect candidates who are qualified."
In accepting this endorsement Niebel said, "The Independence Party has a long history in this county of advocating for reducing taxes, encouraging economic growth and nominating candidates who reflect its commitment to smaller, more efficient government. I am honored to accept this endorsement and if elected I will work hard to deserve that support."
Niebel is the owner and broker of Niebel Realty and is married to the former JoAnn Pietro. They have three children; Stacy, Justin and Lesley, and live in Sheridan.
