Christopher Bennett was named Rising Star winner for the month of October for his property located at 635 Main St. in Dunkirk. Bennett upgraded his six-unit rental property by installing a new roof; power washed and painted the home's exterior and completed extensive landscaping with trees and flowers. For his efforts, Christopher will receive a $100 gift certificate to Service Hardware courtesy of owner Robert Bartkowiak.
The Rising Star program was created to promote and recognize city of Dunkirk property owners who make significant exterior improvements to their existing residential homes, which in turn helps to elevate the image of city neighborhoods. Initiated by First Ward Councilman Mike Michalski, the program has awarded a total of $2,400 to city property owners from local area hardware stores over the past four years.
Councilman Michalski would like to thank local Rising Star sponsoring hardware stores Add Lumber, Bargain Outlet, Service Hardware and the Home Depot, as well as the city of Dunkirk Planning Board and city of Dunkirk building inspector's office.
