BUFFALO - Diedra Osula was the lone member of the Dunkirk-Fredonia-Silver Creek girls swim team to qualify for the New York State Public High School Athletic championships Friday night during the Section 6 meet at Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Center, in downtown Buffalo.
Osula qualified to compete at Ithaca College on Nov. 22 and Nov. 23 by placing fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (:24.66) and fifth in the 100 butterfly (:59.33).
Also for DFSC, Riley Drummond set a new Dunkirk school record in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in a time of 1:01.19 while helping the 400 relay team finish 11th in a time of 3:51.29. Joining Drummond on the team were Osula, Mikayla Reynolds and Katie Webster.
In other events for DFSC, Reynolds was 21st in the 50 free in a time of 26.61 seconds while also competing with the 200 freestyle relay team, which finished 11th in a time of 1:46.10. Haley Zebraski, Webster and Osula formed the quartet.
Webster also finished 16th in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:17.45 and Victoria Pucci-Schaefer finished 20th in the diving event.
