Leon David McIntyre, 86 years old of Woleben Rd, Portland, NY passed away Friday afternoon No-vember 22, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Leon was born in Mayville, N.Y. on September 5, 1927 and was the son of the late Leroy and Winnie Rowley McIntyre.
He resided in this area his entire life. Leon was retired from Niagara Mohawk where he had worked for 41 years and was a line supervisor there.
Leon was a Veteran of World War II serving his country in The United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion John W Dill Post 434 of Brocton, N.Y., a 41 year member of the Portland Fire Department where in the past he had served as Fire Commissioner. He also belonged to the Niagara Mohawk Retirees, and The Dunkirk Moose Club.

Besides his family Leon enjoyed collecting and repairing antique engines, and he belonged and was the founding member of The Chautauqua Antique Equipment Association.
Leon is survived by his loving and caring wife of 65 years Lois; whom he married on September 5, 1948. McIntyre had one son David (Cindy) McIntyre of Portland, New York; three daughters Mrs. Lonnie (Robert) Kelley of Silver Creek, N.Y., Mrs. Linda Fox of Frewsburg, New York and Mrs. Loretta (Jack) Jones of Frewsburg, New York. Six grandchildren; Mathew Wolfe, Roger Wolfe, Michael McIntyre, Mark McIntyre, Jennifer Estabrook and Jack Jones III and eight great-grandchildren.
Leon was predeceased by one brother Lawrence McIntyre, four sisters Beatrice Stoll, Beulah Woleben, Thelma Messenger and Wilda Baum.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday November 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Morse Funeral Home of Brocton, New York. The Rev Gordon Spiller will of-ficiate. Interment will follow at the Willowbrook Cemetery in Dunkirk, New York. Friends are invited to call at the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, New York from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 24 and 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday Nov. 25. The family requests Memorials be made in his memory to The Portland Fire Department, West Main Rd., Portland, New York.
