Rosalie Scanio Taylor, age 94, of Fredonia, NY died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
She was born Jan. 13, 1919, in North East, Pa., to the late Anthony and Josephine Newara. She was the oldest of 13 children.
She was the wife of Ross Edward Scanio, who died in 1972, and also James "Ed" Taylor, who died in 1998.

During her lifetime, Rosalie was a member of the Dunkirk Women of the Moose, Fredonia Senior Citizens group and St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia, NY. However, her greatest love and joy was for her family and all family celebrations. She loved cooking for her family, music and dancing. Rosalie also found much joy in her gardening.
She is survived by her children, Ross (Kathy), Anthony (Ann) Scanio and Laraine (Michael) Testa; her grandchildren Ross, Anthony, Mark and Renee Steinagel as well as Michael, Carl and Rochelle Testa; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Louis, Jerry (Carl), Vincent and Robert Newara, all of North East, Pa., and Raymond Newara, Angie Martina and Shirley Sgarlata of California.
Besides her parents and husbands, Rosalie was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, Charles, Joseph and Anthony Newara and an infant sister, Sarah Newara.
Rosalie's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia, NY with Fr. Carlton Westfield as the celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass and may call at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main St., Fredonia, NY on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Flowers are gratefully declined, but donations in Rosalie's memory to the American Cancer Society (800) 433-7300 and/or Hospice Chautauqua County Inc., 20 West Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14701 would be most appreciated by the family.
Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Fredonia, NY.
