Josefa Torres Navarro, 71, of Dunkirk died Thursday (Nov. 21, 2013) at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 22, 1942 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Pablo and Rosalia (Marrero) Navarro.
Josefa was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Manuel Torres, whom she married Nov. 2, 1991; four children, Eva Ortiz of Hartford, Conn., and Maleco Ortiz, Cachy Ortiz and Yoly Ortiz, all of Dunkirk; three brothers, Herminio Navarro of Dunkirk and Miguel Navarro and Junior Navarro, both of Puerto Rico; two sisters, Marta Navarro and Delmira Navarro, both of Puerto Rico; 11 stepchildren, Angel (Olga) Torres, Domingo (Rocky) Torres, Johnny Torres, Eddie (Ada) Torres, Millie (Jim) Cooper, Aida (Neff) DeJesus, Carmen (David) Bothwell, Mary (Tony) Plaza, Nardo (Elma) Torres, Eito (Mary) Torres and Elvin (Juanita) Torres; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in the Iglesia Getsemani Church in Dunkirk. Pastor Carlos Llera will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Mon-day from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
