A local author brings his voice to a story about encouraging others to find their calling and discover who they are.
Brett W. Gould of Fredonia came up with his first novel "Comeback Bringing" when he was sitting in a Tops parking lot in Arcade over a year ago. He just began writing this idea about figuring out your place in the world.
"I knew it was going to be a book," he said. "I knew it was the next step in my personal adventure."
Brett W. Gould
Gould lived and breathed this book for a whole year as he "hid in the back" of the Kangaroo Cafe in Fredonia. "I told them that I wanted my first book signing to be at Kangaroo Cafe, because it brings it full circle,"he said. "I wanted my first signing to be at home."
Gould said he wants this book to "encourage people "and he is "very humbled" by how much the community has come together to help him in every way possible with this book.
"The heartbeat of the book is about coming back when you are stuck," Gould said.
Gould said he believes "whatever success" he gets from this book will be "Fredonia's success as well."
"This place is home, it raised me and got me to where I am now," he said.
The book signing will take place at Kangaroo Cafe, 12 Park Place, Fredonia from 3 p.m. to 5p.m. on Saturday.
"I wanted it to be during Thanksgiving weekend so that people visiting from out of town can stop by and say hi," he said.
Gould is scheduled for another book signing in the first week of December in Buffalo at Benders, and is also scheduled to speak at churches in West Virginia.
Gould would like to encourage struggling writers to "just start with an idea" and "just practice."
"Find your voice,"he added.
Gould also likes to think of this book as "leaving a legacy" for his three children so they can "go further than him."
He has a website he founded called www.whobix.com where he "has the honor of helping people discover who they are."
The book "Comeback Bringing" can be ordered at the website www.comebackbringing.com and will be "officially" released in late January.
He said he "wouldn't be here without everyone who encouraged him in his journey" so "this is all for you" and he "would love to celebrate this day with all of you."
Gould is currently working on his second novel, still in the beginning stages, which is about what it means to be a dad and husband.
