William B. Washburn, 82, of Dunkirk died Wednesday evening (Nov. 27, 2013) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.
He was born Nov. 1, 1931 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Burton and Cecelia (Hoff) Washburn.
Mr. Washburn was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1949.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, he had worked for Bernett & Strawser as a carpenter and then went to work for AL Tech Specialty Steel until his retirement.
An avid Buffalo Bills fan, he enjoyed playing cards and loved animals.
Survivors include his wife, Joan E. (Tworek) Washburn; two sons, Roger Washburn of Fredonia and Richard (Anne) Washburn of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Gould.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 East Chestnut St., Dunkirk, NY 14048. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
