David A. Nickerson, 69, of Fredonia died Wednesday evening (Nov. 27, 2013) at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk.
He was born Oct. 12, 1944 in Jamestown, the son of the late Herschel and Mae (Rice) Nickerson.
Mr. Nickerson had been employed by Roblin Steel and Fieldbrook Farms, both in Dunkirk.

A lifelong Fredonia resident, he enjoyed hunting, NASCAR racing and Stateline Speedway. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda (Paul) Tabone and Sherry Raymond, both of Fredonia, and Bambi Nickerson of Buffalo; one son, David Nickerson of Gerry; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Makayla and Pauly Tabone, Mark and Randy Raymond, and Josh and Alaina Nickerson; one brother, Cliff (Marcia) Nickerson of Brocton; his son-in-law, William Raymond of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith R. (Centner) Nickerson, who died Jan. 18, 2008; two sisters, Nancy Snyder and Laura Pattyson; and two brothers, Glenn Robinson and Louie Nickerson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel P. Walsh will officiate. Burial will be in Sheridan Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 11 to 1 p.m., two hours prior to the service.
