Donald F. "Moe" Fafinski, 80, of Dunkirk died Thursday morning (Dec. 5, 2013) at home.
He was born March 24, 1933 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Thomas and Belle (Pogorzewski) Fafinski.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mr. Fafinski served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955.
He had been employed as a steelworker at AL Tech Specialty Steel and also was a retired Dunkirk police lieutenant.
A parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, he also was a member of the U.S. Navy Club and the First Ward Falcon Club.
Mr. Fafinski was an avid clock enthusiast.
Survivors include his loving companion, Carol Bialaszewski; one son, Paul Fafinski of Dunkirk; three daughters, Karen (Brian) Meyer and Janet Carreras, both of Dunkirk, and Mary Lou Fafinski of Westfield; one brother, Robert (Pat) Fafinski of Plymouth, Minn.; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rachel Fafinski; a brother, Thomas Fafinski; and a sister, Audrey Szwejbka.
Memorial Services will be held Monday morning at 11 o'clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. The Rev. Raymond Donohue will officiate. There will be no prior visitation. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
