After a dusting of snow in most of the Dunkirk-Fredonia area, motorists were hit with lake-effect snows around 6:30 a.m.
The storm was expected to last through 7 p.m., which is when the lake-effect snow warning will expire. Dunkirk schools closed at 7:30 a.m. while Gowanda schools were closed for a third straight day.
More snow is expected later tonight as well as on Saturday in the Buffalo area.
Motorists found snow-covered roads for a third straight day in northern Chautauqua County.
