New York state Gov. Andrew Cuomo will be in Dunkirk on Sunday for a major economic announcement, according to a number of county and city organizations.
In an e-mail sent to members of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier, the governor will be in the city to discuss developments with the NRG plant.
His visit comes only one week since a rally near the Boardwalk in which residents made it clear they wanted the plant to be re-powered with natural gas. Currently, the plant is a coal-powered energy producer.
Also this week, the chamber had canceled a bus trip to Albany to express support for the NRG project to the Public Service Commission.
In addition to the chamber, groups connected to Dunkirk schools and the city have been notified of the visit.
