In the ongoing debate over the fire protection district contract extension between the town of Pomfret and the village of Fredonia, the village board has rejected an altered version of Pomfret's contract.
Only 11 days remain in the current contract.
On Wednesday, the Pomfret Town Board rejected Fredonia's proposed two-year extension and will instead hold a public hearing on an amended, one-year contract at its year-end special meeting on Dec. 30 at 3:05 p.m.
Fire protection and emergency services to the town outside of village limits (excluding Lily Dale) are set to expire at midnight on Dec. 31 if an agreement is not passed.
A complete story will be published in Saturday's OBSERVER.
