Leonard S. Lampert of Dunkirk, NY, died Sunday December 22, 2013 after an extended illness. Lenny was born April 3,
1928 to Stephen and Stella (Przepolewski) Lampert in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from the Dunkirk Industrial High School in 1946,
as the class salutatorian. Following his graduation from high school, Leonard enlisted in the US Army, where he were assigned to
the 24th Division Field Artillery and stationed in Kyushu, Japan. Leonard retired from AL Tech Specialty Steel Corporation (formerly Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation), after forty-two years of employment as a skilled machinist. Leonard was a member of Blessed Mary Angela Parish - St. Hedwig's R.C. Church in Dunkirk, NY. He was a past member of the Dunkirk Veterans of World War II, Dunkirk Falcon Club Inc., First Ward Falcon Club and Kosciuszko Polish Home. Leonard is survived by his wife of sixty-two years,
Ruby (Szalkowski) Lampert, whom he married August 25, 1951 at St. Hedwig's Church; sons Robert (Wende) of Deming,
NM, John (Lisa) of Dunkirk, NY, and Richard of Ripley, NY; grandchildren: Brent (Tricia) Henderson, of Lancaster, NY, Branden (Caroline) Henderson, of Mountain Brook, AL, Lindsay Lampert of Houston, TX, Erika Lampert of Fredonia, NY, and Tyler
Lampert of Dunkirk, NY, and great grandchildren Cooper Henderson and Charlotte Henderson of Lancaster, NY, and Caldwell Henderson and Carter Henderson of Mountain Brook, AL. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Henry Lampert; sisters Mary Ann Lampert, Florence Kozlowski, Emily Lampert; and an infant brother, Richard Lampert.,Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of Hedwig. Interment will be
at the Resurrection Mausoleum in St. Mary's Cemetery.
