SILVER CREEK - Anna "Millie" M. Sek, 85, of Hanover Road, Silver Creek, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility, Gerry.
She was born in Buffalo on June 9, 1928, the daughter of the late John and Louise (Belscher) Rauth.
Mrs. Sek worked as a Toll Collector for the New York State Thruway Authority in Silver Creek for 25 years and she and her late husband, John Sek, whom she married in St. Aloysius Church, Springville, and who died August 31, 2004, owned and operated a grape farm on Allegany Road in the town of Hanover from 1961 to 1995. Mrs. Sek was a member of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Forestville, was an avid painter, loved to do needlework, bird watching, gardening, card playing and snowmobiling.
Survivors include a son, Daniel (Suzanne) Sek, of Silver Creek; five grandchildren, William (Rosie) Sek, Rob (Aurora) Sek, Dan (Kerry) Sek, Christina (Adam) Burt and Shelby Sek; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Larry Sek, and by a brother, John Rauth.
Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., from where Prayer Services will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Center Street, Forestville, at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. Mark Wolski officiating. Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery.
