After one weather cancellation, the members of the Bud 'n Bloom Garden Club used a break in the area's wintry weather to reschedule their annual holiday party choosing the White Inn in Fredonia recently.
The twinkling white lights, holiday greenery and Christmas finery that decorated the White Inn provided a festive atmosphere for the recent event. The banquet committee consisted of Bev Barnes, Gen Dloniak, and Barb Krauth. President Sue Drag welcomed the group. Barnes and committee had decorated the white linen draped tables with a stunning assortment of sparkling candelabras, matching candle sticks and votive candle holders which were interspersed with evergreen branches, holly sprigs, burgundy mums and pine cones. Burgundy napkins were added for a pleasing contrast.
Members were allowed to order off the extensive menu. Dessert was provided by Krauth which consisted of homemade holiday cookies and confections. Members were gifted with jeweled book marks with a mermaid motif. Dloniak arranged the entertainment for the evening. Fellow member, highly rated local musician Lucy Hurley entertained the group by singing and playing the keyboard while she led the group in holiday songs and wintry melodies.
Drag conducted a brief meeting. Penny Deakin reminded the ladies that it was time to plant and arrange succulents in decorative containers for the annual May Plant Sale to benefit the local Literacy Volunteers Organization a non-profit group that currently is helping over 20 clients to learn to read and speak the English language in this area. A January workshop is planned. The succulent creations will be a welcome addition to the already popular Spring Sale.
At the next meeting members will create individual floral arrangements for the ladies of the WCA Home in Fredonia. Members will receive details pertaining to this meeting via their E-mail accounts. Members are reminded to check the Bud 'n Bloom Facebook page for up-to-date information.
