Residents across northern Chautauqua County have voiced concern over the future of the Lake Shore Health Care Center. On Saturday, it is an opportunity to act.
State Sen. Catharine Young as well as Assemblymen Andrew Goodell and Joe Giglio will be at a community rally in Silver Creek High School gymnasium from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. As has been well documented, the Lake Shore hospital is in financial turmoil, losing nearly $9 million in 2013.
State representatives, however, are hopeful a strong turnout by area residents will send a message of support throughout the region and to Albany as well.
"The rally is a way for the community to stand up and say 'We want and need Lake Shore Hospital to stay open.' Recent rallies have been successful, like NRG, and it shows the power people have when they stand up together," Young said in a phone interview last week.
Recent reports have the hospital closing possibly sometime this month. Those who would like to see the facility remain open need to help show support.
That time would be Saturday afternoon.
