BUFFALO - Fredonia's Gwen Stokes had a record-setting day Friday at Buffalo State during a high school indoor track and field meet.
Stokes took first place in the high jump with a leap of 4-feet-11-inches. The mark set a new school record which was held by Miranda Warner at 4-10.
Meanwhile, Devin Kowalewski placed third in the triple jump at 31-8 and third in the long jump at 15-4. On the track, Ally Cobb took fifth place in the 600 meter with a time of 1:52 and seventh in the 300 at :46.6.
For the boys, Matt Civilette placed first in the long jump at 19-8 while Weston Ley took eighth in the 55 at :7.04.
The Dunkirk Marauders also had several strong showings Friday.
The 4x800 relay team, consisting of Javier Soto, Alec Tomaszewski, Ray Tarnowski and Ethan Francis placed second overall with a time of 8:55.6.
Soto took third in the 3,200 at 10:24.0 and Francis placed sixth in the 600 at 1:37.2.
The 4x200 relay team placed third overall at 1:41.7. The team consisted of Tarnowski, Jose Morales, Miguel Alicea and Nick Barlette.
In the 55, Barlette placed fourth at :6.92, ahead of teammate Morales who took fifth at :6.97.
For the Lady Marauders, the 4x200 relay team took fifth place in 2:00.7. The team was comprised of Calan Pogorzelski, Samantha Hemminger, Faith Rivera and Emilee Hanlon.
Pogorzelski took fifth in the 600 at 1:53.4 while Rivera was fifth in the high jump at 4-4.
Today, Stokes along with several other freshmen and sophomores will compete in the ninth and 10th grade Section 6 meet at Fredonia State.
