SINCLAIRVILLE - The Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds (7-1, 4-0) used a stingy defense and a strong transition game to handle the Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars, 73-15, Wednesday in CCAA West II girls high school basketball action.
The Lady Thunderbirds received scoring from nine different players, led by Jenna Einink's 18 points and Ashton Albanesius' 17. Courtney Hewes contributed with 11 points in the win. Abanesius pulled down 13 rebounds while Einink added nine steals.
"I really thought defensively, we contested everything they shot," Chautauqua Lake coach Eric Schuster said. "We played pretty well on defense. We got out in transition. We scored quite a bit in the first half once we started running."
