LAKEWOOD - Southwestern kept things close early on and battled hard throughout the night, but Fredonia managed to pull away before the first half ended to pick up a 73-49 victory in CCAA Division I West boys basketball on Friday as four of the Hillbillies scored in double figures.
The Trojans trailed by just two points, 15-13, after the first quarter, but Fredonia's Cody Cunningham got hot, scoring all six of his points in the second. Suddenly the Hillbillies increased their advantage to 11 by the end of the period and then outscored Southwestern 38-25 the rest of the way.
Dylan Myer led Fredonia in scoring with 17 points, Cam Voss had 13, Eric Jabot 12 and John Piper netted 10.
For the Trojans, Patrick Mogenhan dropped in 13 points, Jack Carlson had 10 points, Mike Sandbloom grabbed four rebounds and added four assists and Riley Rybicki had five steals.
