Marian Louise (Kolpien) Waters of Ripley, NY, went home to meet her Savior on Jan. 24, 2014 with her loviing family at her bedside. She had resided at the Absolut of Westfield during her lengthy illness.
Marian was born in Ripley on Dec. 31, 1929 to the late H. Bly and Mabel (Lanphere) Kolpien. She was educated in the Ripley School System and graduated from the Zion Bible Institute in 1957.
On Aug. 27, 1960, she married Arthur F. Waters in Westfield, NY. Marian was a custodial worker for the NYS Thruway for 15 years and then for the Town of Ripley, alongside her husband, for another 20 years, before retiring in 2002.

She was a past member of the Lakeshore Assembly of God Church in West-field, NY, where she taught Sunday School for many years, the Foursquare Church in Ripley and at-tended the First Baptist Church in Ripley, NY.
Besides her religious affiliations, Marian was a member of the Ripley Grange for 25 years, the Ripley Senior Citizens and the Westfield Keenagers group.
She enjoyed the company of her family, caring for her home, crocheting and taking trips with the Ripley Seniors and the Westfield Keenagers.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Arthur F. Waters; son Frank B. (Patricia) Waters of Harborcreek Township, PA; granddaughter Carol (Waters) (Mitchell) Dabrowski; great grandchildren Ben and Avery Dabrowski of Lawrence Park, Township, PA. She is further survived by her brother, Roger (Cindy) Kolpien of Westfield, NY and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Melvin Kolpien in 2001, James Kolpien in 2013 and sister-in-law Mary Lou Kolpien in 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at the Mathews Funeral Home, 104 West Main St., Ripley, NY with Pastor Donald Eggleston officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services and may call at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m., prior to the service. Internment will be at the East Ripley Cemetery on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at the convenience of the family.
Donations to the Ripley Baptist Church and the Ripley Fire Department would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
