Irving, NY Marjorie StandingCloud-Seneca, 78, of Route 438 passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Gowanda Nursing Home.
She was born May 16, 1935 on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, the daughter of the late Horrace and Ida (Kennedy) Thompson.
Mrs. StandingCloud-Seneca was a registered Seneca and a member of the Turtle Clan. She was a graduate of Gowanda Central School and Haskell Junior Indian College. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Gowanda, NY and its Ladies Group. She also was a member of the Seneca Elders and enjoyed traveling.

She worked for many years at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the Education Dept. in Washington, DC and as a secretary at the Office of Aging for the Seneca Nation.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Ashley StandingCloud and later married Clayton Seneca, who predeceased her in 2008.
She is survived by a brother, Harlan Thompson of Irving, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. StandingCloud-Seneca was predeceased by a daughter, Ernestine C. Boyd in 1991; and 5 brothers Harold, Raymond, Wilbur, Carl and Kenneth Thompson.
Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc. 105 East Main Street in Gowanda, NY on Sunday February 16, 2014 from 1-3p.m.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Donna Lewis officiating.
Burial will be in Pinewoods Cemetery.
