CASSADAGA - The Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary recent held their regular monthly meeting, with President Gayle Cieplinski presiding. Unit 1280 Junior Auxiliary Chaplain Sarah Meder opened the meeting with a prayer.
The members present recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the Auxiliary Preamble and observed a moment of silence for our fallen soldiers.
In the absence of Secretary Carol Baker, the minutes from the last meeting were not available.
Treasurer Karen Field read the treasurer's report; correspondence was read by Cieplinski.
Committee reports were given by chairpersons present.
Unit 1280 chose its Empire Girls State representative after the interviews held on Jan. 18. Representing Unit 1280 at SUNY Brockport in June will be Sarah Ozga of Sinclairville; the alternate is Alycia Willoughby of Cassadaga.
Under new business, members were reminded about the Department Commander, Auxiliary President, and Son's Commander's visitations.
The luncheon was held at Post 59 Fredonia and the dinner at Post 62 Dunkirk.
Post 1280 will be holding its celebration to honor the Legion Birthday, with a dinner on Saturday March 22. Unit 1280 Auxiliary members will provide the desserts for the occasion.
Children and Youth chairperson Cieplinski reported that the annual children's Easter Party is scheduled for Sunday April 6. Lots of goodies, games and crafts are in the planning stages. Of course, the Easter Bunny will make an appearance.

Unit 1280 continues to collect coupons for our overseas families, "Labels for Education," "Pennies for Hospice," can tabs and canceled postage stamps. Unit 1280 also sells nice corn brooms for $8. Anyone interested may call the Post at 595-3145.
