LACKAWANNA - The No. 10 Gowanda Panthers used a balanced scoring attack and a second-half surge to upset No. 6 Lackawanna, 77-67, Wednesday in Section 6 Class B-2 boys high school basketball.
Four different players scored in double digits led by Chase Williams' 21 points. Zach Stevens added 18 points and 16 rebounds while Lucas Brawdy had 16 points and 12 boards. Brennan Geiger contributed in the win with 13 points.
After trailing 39-26 at halftime, the Panthers erupted for 51 points in the final 16 minutes to secure the win.
"We just got hot," Gowanda coach Andy Bobseine said. "We had balanced offense and were smart with the ball. We executed well on offense. Our defense was awesome against their offense. It's probably our best win of the year."
Williams led the second-half surge with 13 points. Geiger had eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Gowanda now travels to Cleveland-Hill.
