PERRYSBURG - Sonny Fisher of Indian Hill Road passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY. He was 66. Born July 12, 1947 in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Stanford W. and Julia (Lay) Fisher. Sonny was a member of the Wolf Clan.Prior to retirement, Sonny held various jobs in the area, including at the NYS Dept. of Corrections, along with working for the Seneca Nation. He was an electrician and carpenter by trade and worked as a supervisor for the Department of Buildings for the
Nation. He was also a 1967 all-star lacrosse player and a member of the Newtown Lacrosse Association. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandkids, and also enjoyed fishing, anytime, anywhere. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, honorably serving his country during the Vietnam Era. Survivors include his wife, the former Darlene Henhawk, who he shared his life with for the past 41
years, making it official on August 24, 2013 with a ceremony that included friends and family at their home on Indian Hill Road in Perrysburg. Survivors also include five daughters: Carol, Julie and Gerry Fisher, all of Lawtons, along with Ginger Mohawk and
Stanford W.Fisher Sr.
Jana George; and a son, Stanford W. Fisher Jr., all of Perrysburg. Twelve grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive.
Sonny was preceded in death by a sister, Mona Jimerson. Friends may call at the family residence, 10925 Indian Hill Road, after 3 p.m. today and all day on Tuesday, where his funeral will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. Arrangements are by the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda, (716)-532-4200.
