SHERIDAN - A Sheriff's officer was involved in the multi-vehicle accident that occurred around noon Thursday on Route 5.
In the town of Sheridan, poor visibility caused multiple crashes on Route 5. Scanner reports indicated that up to 11 vehicles were involved in the crashes. Route 5 was shut down between Central Avenue and Center Road and reopened around 4 p.m.
The Sheriff's Department has yet to return a call at the time of this posting, however WDOE reports that none of those involved in the crash were seriously hurt, including the deputy and a trainee reportedly involved in the accident.
This Sheriff's vehicle was totaled in the accident.
Eight people in total were taken to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
