William F. Scott, 83, a resident of St. Vincent's Home, Dunkirk, died Friday, March 14, 2014 at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Dunkirk on April 20, 1930, the son of the late Patsy L. and Emily (Wenge) Scott.
He was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1949 and served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the Korean War.
Mr. Scott worked as a Master Carpenter for the former King Windows, Dunkirk, for 35 years until the company closed.
He was a life member of Dunkirk Moose Lodge #89. Mr. Scott was a magician with wood, enjoyed picking blueberries & was a loving grandfather.
Survivors include a son, Robert Scott and a daughter, Diane (Gordon) Haight, both of Fredonia. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Steven (Sarah) Haight of North Carolina, Kalie Haight, Melissa Wills, Greg Haight, Laurie Berkshire and William Berkshire; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Helga (Jung) Scott, to whom he was married for over 54 years and who died March 14, 2008; a sister, Patricia Scott; and a daughter-in-law Jean Scott.
Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Saturday afternoon from 1-3:30 p.m. During that time, a Catholic Prayer Service will be held at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Walter Werbicki officiating and visiting hours will be completed with A Military Service conducted at 3:30 p.m., by members of the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council.
