James T. Gugino, 71, of 11 West Water St., Lock Haven, PA died on March 24, 2014 at home.
Jim, who was also known by family and friends as "Gino," was born on February 14, 1943 to Lillian Rose Gugino and the late Joseph S. Gugino.
He grew up in Gowanda, NY and graduated from Gowanda Central School in 1961.
He worked at Public Broadcasting Stations (PBS) in Buffalo, NY, Washington, D.C. and State College, PA. He also worked for NBC Television while in Washington and for Penn College in Williamsport, PA. He spent several years shooting plane-to-plane videos for Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven. He called it the best job anyone ever had.
Jim was married to the former Karen V. Smith. The two met in nursery school when they were three years old and they lived happily ever after.
Gino loved talking, riding and fixing motorcycles with his friends at the British Embassy. He had also been an active member of the Loggia Giosue Carducci Sons of Italy Lodge #146 for the past 40 years.
Besides Karen, Jim is survived by three sons Jeff, Joe and Lenny, whom he proudly taught to be "gentlemen and Guginos"; their wives Beth, Missy and Rebecca, and grandchildren Tyler, Tate, Leisher and LilyAnn. He is also survived by his mother Lillian and brother David and his wife Joan of Apple Valley, Minnesota; brother Jerry of Payson, Arizona; and brother-in-law James W. Smith of Springville, New York.
The family will greet friends and have a celebration to honor Jim at the Sons of Italy, 1 North Henderson Street, Lock Haven, this Saturday, March 29, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, PA to Millbrook Playhouse or the Community Pool at Mill Hall.
A private family memorial service and committal will be held at a later date.
