GOWANDA - Floyd H. Sharp, age 90, of Skinner Hollow Road, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born April 23, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Floyd and Ethel (Hazen) Sharp.
A United States Army Veteran, Floyd honorably served his country from 1942 to 1945. After being discharged from the service Floyd married the former Rose Betts. They were married in Scranton, Pa., on Nov. 3, 1949. Rose passed away Feb. 14, 2010.

Floyd enjoyed carpentry and leatherworking. He and Rose enjoyed going to flea markets and craft shows.
Survivors include four daughters Wanda Wilson, Linda (Tom Szyminski) Sharp, Margaret (Gary) Blair, and Ethel Sharp. Grandfather of nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Floyd is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Ellis, along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife, Floyd was preceded in death by brothers Frank, William, Albert, Vernon, Oscar and Arthur Sharp; and sisters, Janet Smith, Celia Darling, and Pearl Sharp.
Full military funeral services were held Friday April 11, 2014 at 12 noon from the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda. Interment followed in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Gowanda where Floyd was laid to rest next to his wife, Rose. Memorials may be made to the Gowanda Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 143, Gowanda, NY 14070.
