Leonard F. Szablewski, 84, of Westfield went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning April 20, 2014. He was born Aug. 19,
1929 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of the late Frank and Vera (Panko) Szablewski. Leonard moved to Dunkirk at the age of 9 and
attended St. Mary's School.He had been employed as a steel worker at Al Tech Specialty Steel Corp., retiring after over 40 years of

service and also worked in the Maintenance Department of Brooks Memorial Hospital for 29 years.Mr. Szablewski enjoyed winters in Florida with his soul mate Florence and spending time with his dogs, Trixie, Lucky and Tina. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mayville. He was a member of the Kosciuszko Club, Elks Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose and First Ward Falcons Club. Survivors include his soul mate, Florence M. Rich of Fredonia; two daughters, Mary (George) Gloss of Cassadaga and Betty Szablewski of Arkwright; four sons, Timothy (Cheryl) Szablewski of Stedman, Leonard (Shari) Szablewski Jr., Walter (Shannon) Szablewski of Forestville, and Frank (Kimberly) Szablewski of Cassadaga; one sister, Alberta (Leonard) Catalano of Dunkirk; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Frommer, who passed away at the age of 54; and one brother, Joseph Szablewski. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in Holy Trinity Church. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
