Alberta J. Cortright, 80, died peacefully Friday, April 25, 2014 at her home on Merrill Drive in South Dayton, NY.
She was born July 13, 1933 in Gowanda, NY the daughter of the late Alton and Madolin (Ganslow) Trombley.
Alberta "Birdie" was the co-founder of the South Dayton Builders Supply and Cortright's Floral Shop; from which she retired following 41 years of service to the community.
She was a member of the Fredonia Memorial Unit 59 American Legion Auxiliary and the Silver Creek Ladies Aux. Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Alberta loved her dogs, Sherry and Demon and her parrot Baby. She also loved her adopted family Gene Palmer, Jenifer Raynor, Douglas and Kathleen Raynor; who were there for her in her battle with Alzheimers.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah A. Cortright; a brother David (Carol) Trombley; nephew David (Amy) Trombley; a grand-niece, Sara Trombley; and a grand-nephew, Lucas Trombley all of South Dayton.
She was preceded in death by her husband John A. Cortright who died Nov. 26, 1996.
Visitation will be held at the funeral Chapel on Monday from 4 -7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 28, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, South Dayton, NY. Pastor Thomas Maynard will be officiating. Burial will be in the Villenova Cemetery in South Dayton.
