Norman "Norm" L. VanWey of Allen St. passed away at home Saturday April 26, 2014; he was 79.
Norm was born in Buffalo, March 1, 1935 the son of Norman and Mildred (Cooke) VanWey
A self-employed auto body/mechanic Norm had his collision shop at various locations throughout the area; his latest, Vans Collision on Rt. 62 in Collins. Prior to opening his own collision shop he worked for the former Cheplo Automobile Dealership in Collins.
Norman married the former Joana Clees in Collins September 18, 1965.
Survivors besides Joana include two sons, Michael (Kristen) VanWey of Gowanda, Darrin (Angela) VanWey also of Gowanda and a daughter Norma Loverme of Fla. Grandfather to Delaney, Jack, Devon and Ty. Brother in-law to Linda Howard of Cottage, Barbara (Dean) Richmond of Ind. and Stuart Clees of Hamburg. Uncle (locally) to Christopher (Lillian) Howard of South Dayton, Wanda (Kevin) Koch of Gowanda and Jennifer (Donald) Blood also of Gowanda. Norm is also survived by good friends Joe and Lori DeCarlo of Collins and Lenny and Annie Duliba of Ocala, Fla.
Besides his parents, Norm was preceded in death by a brother Richard VanWey, a sister Kathleen Mekus and a nephew Jimmy Howard.
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda (716)532-4200 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, where funeral services will be held Wednesday April 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to a local charity of one's choice.
