Chautauqua Striders working with north county youth

May 4, 2014
Observer Today

Chautauqua Striders, Inc. is celebrating its 35th year of mentoring and guiding youth through education, advocacy and athletics. What began as a Jamestown running club in 1979 with just 25 athletes has grown into an agency that works with 1,800 students and athletes annually county-wide. Since 2006 Chautauqua Striders, Inc. has steadily expanded its mission to northern Chautauqua County. With guidance from the Chautauqua County Youth Bureau, Striders teamed with Infinity Visual and Performing Arts and the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County to create the North County Youth Collaborative. Since that time, Striders has provided academic tutoring in all northern Chautauqua County school districts and mentoring in the Dunkirk School District.
