Mailboxes being damaged in Fredonia

May 15, 2014
Observer Today

Some residents of Chestnut Street in the village of Fredonia have reported damaged mailboxes, such as this one at Lucille Richardson's 401 Chestnut St. residence, now that they are required (as of several years ago) to put them out at the side of the street for mail carriers. Richardson said she believes vandals recently swung a baseball bat at her mailbox during the night and sped away in a vehicle. She used duct tape to repair it, as seen in this picture. Fredonia Police are investigating Richardson's report, but Police Chief Bradley Meyers said he believes it is an isolated incident and that an arrest may be difficult in the case.
