burglary still being investigated
The Dunkirk Police Department is still working on the burglary at Old Sarge's Drop Shop, but city residents should have no worries about what was stolen, according to Police Chief David Ortolano.
"Our investigation is ongoing," the chief told the OBSERVER. "All the property related to this incident was recovered by our Department and there is no public safety concerns."
Old Sarge's was broken into around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office
SHERIDAN - Katelyn T. Kozak, 26, of Center Road was charged with second-degree forgery, a class D felony, on Monday. Deputies took Kozak into custody without incident at 10 a.m., on a Chautauqua County Court warrant. Kozak was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment in county court.
FALCONER - Devin W. Powell, 22, of Youngsville, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operator and driving without headlights on Sunday. At 3:29 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on West Main Street for allegedly operating without its headlights. Powell was found to be allegedly intoxicated and operating without a license. He was released to appear in Ellicott Town Court at a later date.
ELLINGTON - Franklin G. Brown, 20, of Salamanca, Jackson R. John, 20, of Great Valley and Tad P. Battie, 18, of Salamanca were all charged with unlawful possession of alcohol under 21 on Sunday. Deputies stopped a vehicle on West Main Street at 2:07 a.m., after observing it allegedly fail to signal a turn coming off 28th Creek Road. A quantity of alcoholic beverages were allegedly found in the vehicle. All three subjects were released to appear in Ellington Town Court.
ELLINGTON - Xavier A. Berrios, 20, of Dunkirk, Dontae N. Clarke, 20, of Brooklyn, Michael J. Donaldson, 20, of Dunkirk and Patrick J. Lamattina, 19, of Dunkirk were charged with unlawful possession of alcohol under 21 on Sunday. Deputies stopped a vehicle on 28th Creek Road at 12:53 a.m., for a traffic infraction. The four occupants were allegedly found to be in possession of alcoholic beverages. The males were released to appear in Ellington Town Court. The female driver was only cited for a stop sign violation after it was found she had not been drinking. Police did not release the driver's name.
JAMESTOWN - Tina M. Vespro, 40, of Lakewood, was charged Wednesday around 10:50 p.m. with driving while intoxicated per se, failure to keep right and no turn signal after a traffic stop on Fairmount Avenue. She was taken into custody, processed and released with tickets to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office
COLDSPRING - David L. Bobseine, 70, of Gowanda was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and failure to keep right on May 9. Deputies stopped Bobseine's vehicle on Route 394 at 10:09 p.m., where he was found to be allegedly intoxicated. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
