SHERIDAN - It was an eventful night for a local resident who has done so much for his community.
Newly appointed Sheri-dan Town Councilman Glenn Reed took his oath of office at a recent town board meeting.
Reed is already actively involved in the Chadwick Bay Regional Development Corp. and the newly formed County Water Agency, so he is no stranger to how things work.

Sheridan Town Clerk Julie Szumigala swore in new Councilman Glenn Reed during a recent town board meeting.
Recently retired Council-woman Amy Farnham's seat was offered to Reed after she had to take her leave May 1 due to personal conflicts.
Supervisor Louis Del-monte praised Reed for his efforts on working with the town.
"He has been doing a lot for us," he said. "It is a pleasure to have him on-board."
This has been something Reed said he has always wanted to do. He thanked the board for giving him the privilege to talk for his town. He will need to make sure his name is on the ballot during November elections to keep his seat, but is confident that will happen.
He already has Council-woman Colleen Yerico's vote.
"He does a lot," she said. "He can attend meetings when we can't, because we are at work."
Reed has retired from his job, so his days are open, and he has already attended events for the town, which took place when officials were busy.
"I really appreciate being asked (to be councilman); I have a lot to offer the town," he said. "This is really set up for a non-working person; when they need someone to oversee."
Yerico is in awe with the work Reed has done in the former St. John Bosco church building.
Reed serves on the Renovations Committee, which transformed the church into the new town courthouse.
"I took my mother to see the renovation; we used to go to that church," she said. "We loved it and think it is beautiful. I hope there is a great turnout for the open house."
There will be an open house at the Sheridan Town Hall before the Memorial Day Parade Monday at 10 a.m. The parade will start around noon and there will be a chicken barbecue from 1 to 3 p.m.
