Michelle L. Gelsimino, age 44, of Fredonia, N.Y., died Wednesday May 20, 2014.
She was born August 2, 1969 in Dunkirk, N.Y. Michelle is the beloved daughter of Patricia (Westling) Lefferts and Robert Lefferts, of Fredonia, N.Y. and Robert Gelsimino and Sherry Parsell of Vero Beach, Florida.
She grew up in Fredonia, attending Fredonia Schools and graduating from Fredonia High School in 1987. She was a graduate of SUNY Fredonia, '90 and SUNY at Buffalo, '04. Also the New England School of Acupuncture '09.
Michelle traveled extensively around the world, living for six years in both Paris and Honolulu. Michelle and her dear friend and ex-husband, Shawn Greene, took 7 months to go around the world stopping in Asia, Europe, then the United States, being home for the holidays and then traveling down the east coast and across to California, visiting family, friends and sites along the way.
She then returned to Honolulu where she worked as an EMT for the City of Honolulu. Michelle also worked at Disneyland Paris, France and the Bishop Museum in Honolulu. She was most recently a practitioner of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine and worked at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo at the time of her death. Michelle was very talented as she spoke fluent French, played several instruments including the violin, viola, and was taught piano by Granny Lefferts.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her brothers and sisters: Robert "Rob" Lefferts of Hemet, CA., Sheri (Mike) McCoy of Matthews, N.C., Jaisree Gelsimino McCormack and Robert Blake "Bo" Gelsimino, both of Vero Beach, FL. Michelle is the niece of: Marcia (Westling) Johnson, Susan Westling, Karen (Donald) Westling, Mary Lou (Lefferts) Vercant, Todd and Kathy (Lefferts) Wickmark, Paula (Gelsimino) McIntyre, Frank and Carolyn Gelsimino, James Gel-simino, John and Kathy (Walker) Krebs, Kenneth and Lorie Walker. Michelle is also survived by many great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and of course, her "kitties' Smoky and Ku'u.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Donald and Josephine (Calanni) Westling, Eleanor and Kenneth Walker, Edward and Madalyn Lefferts,, and Peter and Jeanette (Pucci) Calanni; and two uncles: Donald Westling and David Vercant.
Friends may call Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, NY. Funeral services will be held at the Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, 56 Matteson Street, Fredonia, New York, Saturday morning at 10 a.m. (Please Assemble at Church). Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery will be private.
