"We had an inning where we fell apart and then we started pressing and that was it," Dunkirk coach John Sliwa said.
Dunkirk had its opportunities as they left two runners on base in the third and fourth inning and the bases loaded in the sixth and seventh inning.
"It's us in a nutshell," Sliwa said. "We leave runners on and don't get hits at the right time. For some reason, we just didn't get it done. It's disappointing. I was expecting a little more this season."
Sydney Burk was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts, four hits, one earned run and five walks. Her counterpart, Riley Drummond, pitched four innings, gave up five runs - three earned - two strikeouts and three walks.
Quinn Bankoski was Dunkirk's lone bright spot offensively with two hits.
It was the last game for Dunkirk seniors Amy Kaufmann, Alexis Clark and Selena Ruiz.
"They all had their roles this year," Sliwa said. "They did a nice job. I feel disappointed for them that their senior year wasn't as successful as we wanted it to be."
