MAYVILLE - Since the early morning hours of Wednesday, emergency service personnel from all over Western New York has been assisting county and community leaders to help with the clean-up efforts in the recently flooded communities.
"The volunteer fire departments, emergency personnel, and numerous volunteers have been working tirelessly on behalf of the county residents affected by the recent storm," said County Executive Vince Horrigan. "The clean-up efforts have gone well and as of this moment most, if not all, previously closed roads are open."

A FEW FIRST STEPS TO TAKE AFTER A FLOOD:
Make sure the area has been declared safe, stay away from downed power lines, check for structural damage, and call your natural gas utility if the natural gas service to your home has been shut off.
Before you begin clean up, photograph all damage
Contact your insurance agent.
Let the building air out to remove foul odors.
Notify your local village or town office of damages incurred as soon as possible.
