Leon Frank Zebracki, 90 years old, of Brocton, New York passed away at Absolut of Westfield, New York on Thursday evening June 5, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Dunkirk, New York on April 10, 1924 and was the son of the late Michael and Catherine Zebracki. He resided in this area for his entire life.
Leon had been a lathe operator at AJ Wahl & Co. of Brocton, New York for forty-two years until his retirement.
He also served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater where he received The Purple Heart for being wounded during combat. He was a lifetime member of The American Legion John W Dill Post 434 of Brocton, New York and a lifetime member of The VFW of Mayville, New York.
He loved gardening and operated the Chautauqua Dahlia Fields and Mums of Brocton for many, many years.
He belonged to St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church of Brocton where he served as an usher. Besides spending time with his wife and family, Leon enjoyed his many years wintering in Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice, with whom he celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on May 24, 2014. Also surviving are four daughters Julie Ann Brewer of Vir-ginia, Mrs. Jennifer (David) Strouse of Maine, Mrs Virginia (Patrick) Modglin of Florida and Mrs. Laurie (Ray) Howe of Ohio and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his many brothers and sisters: Francis, Martha, Carl, Genevieve, Belle, Stanley, Annette, Peter, Viola, Agnes, Marie, John and Helen.
A private Funeral Service and Burial will be taking place at the convenience of the family. Memorials in his honor may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018. Funeral arrangements were conducted by the Morse Funeral Home of Brocton, New York.
