Fredonia hydrant hit

June 18, 2014
Observer Today

Fredonia Police are still investigating a hit-and-run incident that happened around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the village of Fredonia. A vehicle hit a fire hydrant on Temple Street and fled the scene. Police caught up with the vehicle shortly after. Mayor Stephen Keefe said the water poured from the hydrant and down Temple Street. The Fredonia Department of Public Works worked tirelessly to stop the 21-inch main pipe from spilling out. Keefe added at least the northwest side of Temple Street would see problems with water, and residents should be careful once the water comes back on.
