Alleghany Road fire

July 1, 2014
Observer Today

Firefighters responded to an active fire on Alleghany Road in Irving around 8 p.m. Monday. According to Sunset Bay Second Assistant Chief Kevin Weiskerger, firefighters were able to knock down the fire pretty quickly. He said no one was home at the time of the fire and although there was a lot of damage to the house, it may be salvageable. A cause was not known later Monday night, but the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was on the scene. Fire departments responding to the fire were Sunset Bay, Silver Creek, Irving, Forestville, Sheridan, Hanover Center and the East Town of Dunkirk's firefighter rehab unit.
