Ilene A. Granata, formerly of Fredonia, NY, died peacefully at Absolut of Dunkirk, NY, on Saturday, June 28, 2014.
She was born in Dunkirk, NY, on May 6, 1927, to the late Charles and Cora (DeMarco) Polvino.
In 1946, Ilene married Anthony F. Granata at St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia, NY. During her lifetime, she was a member of St. Anthony's Church, its Altar and Rosary Society and St. Lucy's Society. She often accompanied her son, Anthony D. Granata, to St. Joseph's Church in Fredonia.
Ilene was educated in the Fredonia School system and worked as a receptionist and secretary for Dr. Passafaro for 40 years.
Ilene truly loved her family and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making Christmas cookies.
Ilene is survived by her son, Anthony D. (Cathy) Granata; a granddaughter, Rachel Aquilina; a grandson, David Granata; and her great-grandson Anthony Aquilina.
Besides her husband, she is predeceased by an infant daughter.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church at 10 a.m. with Reverend Charles Zadora officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass and may call at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main Street, Fredonia, NY, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Donations to the Chautauqua County Hospice in Ilene's memory would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Fredonia, NY.
