SILVER CREEK - Summer vacation will be a busy time at the Silver Creek Central School District.
The district is currently in its last phase of a capital project. Superintendent Daniel Ljiljanich gave the Silver Creek Board of Education an update at its regular meeting Wednesday.
"A lot of work will be done this summer," said Ljiljanich. "There is a lot of work to do. It's a huge project."

The Silver Creek Central School will complete work on the elementary school entryway as part of the final phase of the capital project.
Work to be completed this summer includes work on both the elementary and secondary school's entryways, finishing and re-doing driveways and parking lots, sidewalks to be torn up, new ceilings to be installed, remodeling of the district's business office and work at the baseball diamond.
Ljiljanich also said the district is going to be beta testing a new transportation program in the next school year. The district is using Transfinder, a bus routing software program which will allow bus drivers to be able to see photos of students as the bus drops them off at the assigned bus stops.
"(The district) is looking for ways to improve (student) safety. I think it is certainly worth it," Ljiljanich said.
The board of education passed an agreement to share the transportation supervisor position with the Forestville Central School District. Silver Creek will be paying 60 percent, with Forestville paying 40 percent for this upcoming school year. The board of education also recognized Caitlin Kane as a Business First Top 25 teacher and the following elementary students for receiving the Citizenship Award: Alexandra Rocque, Samuel Braidich, Brock Stern, Brooklyn Karcz, Gracie Williams, Ryleigh Lawton, Lynn Krupa and Noah Wiltsie.
The resignations of Jane Gens as part-time family and consumer science teacher, Victoria Tomasulo as a full-time music teacher and Andrea Turton as a registered nurse were approved. Jinelle Burger was appointed as a part-time dean of students and Robin Mayerat was appointed as the middle and high school choir accompanist.
