The Fredonia All-Star team's first game in the 11-12 year old state tournament did not go as hoped, as they fell to Section 3's Chatham, 13-3, in a four-inning contest, Wednesday.
Chatham was led by Jenna Skype's four hits (one triple) and Sophia Martino and Eliza Lindberg each chipped in with a hit each.
For Section 1 Fredonia, Sydney Bigelow led the way with three hits. Lead-off hitter Emily Smith scored two runs for Fredonia. Bigelow had an RBI single and scored a run on a fielder's choice from Kelly Gullo.

The winning pitcher was Jenna Skype, and taking the loss was Grace Mroczka.
"We made a lot of errors," Fredonia coach Luke Gullo said. "Grace pitched very, very well for us. We have to win Friday to survive and advance to play Saturday."
Section 3 Chatham will be back in action today at 2 p.m. against Section 5's South Shore. Section 1 Fredonia will be back in action Friday at 2 p.m. against South Shore.
Also for Fredonia, Julia Fortna and Jane Fortna played strong defensive games, according to Gullo.
In the second game, Section 4 New City defeated Section 2 Oneida, 6-0.
Leading the way was the no-hit pitching of Samantha Kaner, who also led New City at the plate with two hits and three RBIs.
Jenna O'Reilly had two hits with a triple. Kaner had 11 strikeouts.
For Section 2 Oneida, Kyra Shlotzhauer took the loss.
Section 4 New City is back in action today at 5 p.m., taking on Section 6, while Section 2 Oneida will play again Friday at 5 p.m. against Section 6.
